ABOUT LOOP

Loop Yoga is across the beach from the crystal clear turquoise waters of Leighton Beach, Western Australia. We have created and built this beautiful studio because we believe yoga should be for EVERY BODY. Our aim is to create a community of like-minded individuals that share an interest in living a healthy, mindful, and joyful life through our practice and the people that surround it.

Mother-Daughter duo Lisa and Serena have spent the majority of their yoga practice in Los Angeles where all kinds of yoga, teachers, and journeys are welcomed and encouraged and aim to bring this joyful accepting approach to yoga here in Perth, WA.

Our classes range from meditative yin to power yoga. We don’t expect the everyday person to be a human pretzel or a contortionist and we structure our classes around this understanding.

We encourage everyone's individuality as we believe being different, comfortable and joyful in your skin is what this practice is all about. There is zero judgment the second you step into Loop. Our teachers are here to guide you, help you to understand your own body and how to take this practice with you on and off the mat as yoga is at the end of the day your own personal practice and journey.

“Practice and all is coming”. - K. Pattabhi Jois

LISA

Lisa’s yoga and spiritual journey started at an early age.  Her grandmother was a Buddhist and spent her early years in Burma.  She was one of the first Hatha yoga teachers in Adelaide, South Australia in the 1950’s and her physical strength, health & philosophy made a big impact on Lisa.  Lisa first began her real love of yoga when she studied Ashtanga yoga and has developed her own style the last 30 years.    She has attended intensive yoga retreats in Bali, Mexico, Thailand, and Byron Bay with some of the top teachers in the world such as Dena Kingsberg, Jorgen Christenson, & Vytas Baskauskas. She is registered with the International Yoga Alliance 5-star accredited at the highest level; Member Yoga Australia.

Lisa received her 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training Certification with Yoga Works, 50 hours of Yin Yoga teacher training with YogaWise in San Fransisco, Restorative Yoga with Baby Bliss in Byron Bay, secondary level Insight Yoga Teacher training with Sarah & Ty Powers in Thailand, workshops with Insight LA, Santa Monica studying Dharma and Mindfulness Meditation; Kadampa Buddhist Temple, Fremantle.

Lisas classes are inclusive with strength and balancing challenges. She believes It’s not about perfection as that’s simply not real life. It’s about love and kindness & being open. Lisa has had plenty of ups and downs and in the crazy times in her life, yoga was the one thing that she clung to and helped her to find joy even in the hardest times. She is passionate about sharing what she believes. She understands it may feel intimidating the first time coming to yoga but her fun, authentic, warm and inviting approach makes you feel immediately comfortable and at ease to be yourself. She hopes your will end up loving yoga for life just as she does.

SERENA

Serena grew up as a singer-songwriter and a competitive athlete who has always had a love for movement. Serena has been around yoga her entire life from her mother being a teacher, to her grandmother and her great grandmother so it seemed natural for Serena to find this same passion for the practice and then join her mother to set up Loop Yoga. Serena has had a consistent practice from an early age and continued her love for yoga by completing her 300hr-YTT and has not looked back since.

“I find this sense of coming home to myself every time I step on the mat. It is so much more than the physical poses for me, it has become who I am and how I see the world. Today it is unlikely I will come across someone who isn’t struggling. I know first hand how much the mind can completely take over the body. With consistent practice and diving into the philosophy of yoga, I found a complete rewiring of my moods, behavior and my perspective on life. The strength (mentally and physically), the connection to myself and to others, inner joy, seeing the beauty in every single day, just to name a few has been due to this practice and I found a love for sharing and teaching this experience to others. Finding yoga and becoming a teacher is the best thing that could have ever happened to me.”

At first meeting Serena you may think she will be too soft for a power yoga teacher but don’t let the smile fool you when you're suddenly shaking and sweating through her power flows. Her classes have been described as a trance-like-journey where the hour goes by in a split second.

Through her flows Serena aims for you to create a space to better connect with yourself and others, grow mentally and physically, and cultivate a mindfulness that allows you to see life through a joyful and present lens.
